Studio Brief 3: 'The Cold Light of Day'

For my Bruce Willis movie poster I was given 'The Cold Light of Day'. It was released in 2012 and has 5% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and 4.9/10 rating on IMDB.
The film was not very successful, it made £3.7m in the US box office. There is also a severe lack of alternative posters for it, which leaves me a clean slate for my design.

Summary:

Will Shaw (Henry Cavill) goes to Spain for a weeklong sailing vacation with his family but his whole world turns upside down when the family is kidnapped by intelligence agents hell-bent on recovering a mysterious briefcase and Will suddenly finds himself on the run.

Beginning:

• A family are on holiday in Spain.
• Will swims to the shore to fetch medicine for his brother's girlfriend. When he returns, it takes him a while to find the boat.
• His family are missing off the boat, so he gets the police who take him to a beach where Zahir is waiting, who knows where his family is.

Middle:

• Will is suspicious so he escapes in a police car and his father Martin shows up and escapes with him.
• Martin reveals that he is a CIA agent and he stole a briefcase, which caused their family to be kidnapped.
• Jean, his partner, who says she doesn't have the briefcase anymore.
• A sniper kills Martin shortly after.
• Will meets with Jean and the sniper but he is suspicious so escapes.
• Will phones Diego from his father's recent calls and his niece Lucia answers.
• The kidnappers call Will and give him a deadline for returning the briefcase, and refer to his dad as Tom, not believing that he is dead.
• Will arrives at Diego's office, where Diego and the man from the Embassy are killed.
• Diego is dead in his office, and Will and Lucia escape.
• Will discovers that Lucia is his half sister, and that Tom is Martin's alias in Spain.
• Will meets with the kidnappers and Zahir beats him up for information.
• He learns that the briefcase was stolen from a Mossad agent and Zahir is an Isreali agent who wants the briefcase. Jean is the corrupt agent, not Martin.
• Zahir uses Will to lure out Jean and the buyers of the briefcase.

Ending:

• Jean pursues them in a car etc etc, and is then taken out by Zahir who retrieves the briefcase.
• Lucia recovers at the hospital where she meets her half family, and Will is offered a job at the CIA.
