Studio Brief 2: Final 20 facts

20 Facts
  1. Vinyl records were invented in the late 1800s.
  2. The first audio format was the phonograph cylinder.
  3. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles was named the best album cover of all time by the Rolling Stones.
  4. Most people would study the album cover intensely while listening to vinyls back in the day.
  5. In the 70’s, teenagers would carry vinyls around in see through cases to make a point of their music taste.
  6. Michael Jackson's Thriller is the best selling album of all time.
  7. Cassette tapes were mostly for convenience in their early days.
  8. Meanwhile records were still highly popular.
  9. Records would be played as whole albums, instead of just one song like what happens now.
  10. Some rare vinyls can be worth thousands of pounds.
  11. There are 29 digital music formats.
  12. There are 25 analog music formats.
  13. 230 million songs are illegally downloaded a day.
  14. In the 70’s and 80’s, friends would meet up at record shops.
  15. New music could be listened to in booths in record shops.
  16. Album covers were the only way to portray the artist’s image before music videos.
  17. In recent years, records are gaining popularity while CD shops are going out of business.
  18. Michael Jackson's Thriller is the best selling album of all time.
  19. A CD is made from 1.2 millimetres (0.047 in) thick, polycarbonate plastic and weighs 15–20 grams.

Aswell as using websites to gather these 20 facts, I also questioned my parents about how listening to music has evolved, so they told me some things about the way it was listened to in the 70s/80s. Facts 4, 5, 14, and 15 came from asking them questions.
The facts are based on similar aspects as the statistics - audio formats and albums.
